Age-dependent expression of growth factor receptors in ACL fibroblasts

چکیده
Introduction: Ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament are an important health problem in current-day populations, with potentially serious sequelae for later mobility, ability to work and quality-of-life. This fact is further complicated by recent evidence, showing insufficient protection from joint degeneration even with treatment of these injuries with ACL reconstruction, the current gold standard. Thus tissue engineering methods are of interest to augment and improve ACL treatment options.

GDF-5/7 and bFGF activate integrin alpha2-mediated cellular migration in rabbit ligament fibroblasts.
Cellular activities responding to growth factors are important in ligament healing. The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) has poor healing potential compared to the medial collateral ligament (MCL). To assess the differences, we investigated the proliferation, migration, adhesion, and matrix synthesis responding to growth factors in rabbit ACL and MCL fibroblasts. ACL cell proliferation to basic...
متن کاملP-189: Investigation of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptors Expression in Ectopic Pregnancy
Background: Ectopic pregnancy (EP) is a complication of conception in which the embryo implants outside of uterine cavity. The increasing incidence of serious maternal morbidity resulting from EP has prompted the search for biomarkers to aid in early diagnosis and take advantage of conservative treatments. One of the effective biomarkers in EP is vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). VEGF ...
متن کاملEvaluation of galectin-3 expression in ameloblastoma stromal fibroblasts and its association with recurrence
Introduction: Ameloblastoma is a benign odontogenic neoplasm with a high risk of recurrence. Ameloblastoma stromal fibroblasts are associated with tumor growth and invasion; however, a few studies have evaluated the immunohistochemical characteristics of stromal fibroblasts and their association with recurrence in Ameloblastoma. Galectin-3 (gal-3) is a member of the B-galactoside bonding protei...
متن کاملP-171: Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptors In Endometriosis
Background: Endometriosis is a disease which is defined by the growth of endometrium-like tissue outside of the uterine cavity. Literatures show that VEGF by interaction with their receptors, Flt-1 (Fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 or VEGFR-1) and Flk-1/KDR (fetal liver kinase/ kinase-insert domain receptor or VEGFR-2) is related to pathogenesis of endometriosis. The purpose of this study was to eval...
متن کاملPigment epithelium-derived factor: clinical significance in estrogen-dependent tissues and its potential in cancer therapy
Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) is a glycoprotein that belongs to the family of non-inhibitory serpins. The broad spectrum of PEDF biological activity is evident when considering its effects in promoting cell survival and proliferation, as well as its antiangiogenic, antitumor, and anti-metastatic properties. Although the structural domains of the PEDF gene that mediate such diverse ef...
